NHL: Knocking Off the Rust

Shot the New Jersey Devils home opener last night against the Philadelphia Flyers (one of the favorites to win the East) at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

The main thing I can say is wow, I felt rusty not having shot hockey since the Devils were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last season.

Felt a bit like I forgot what I was looking for, didn't help that most of the better action seemed away from me in the first period...got a few usable clicks, but nothing I would consider very good.

Second period gave me a chance to shoot a bit of Ray Emery who is comebacking with the Flyers and opened the season with a shutout, and another strong performance last night, wasn't much action in front of him though. Did get a decent hit by Parise on Pronger.

Third period worked ok for me, and the Devils even got on the board with a couple of goals. Of course the Flyers put a couple more past Brodeur, who looked as rusty as I felt. I even got a decent one of Colin White delivering a hit with my "Oh shit" cam.

Get to return right back to the ice tomorrow night when the Rangers come to the Rock on Monday, hopefully it'll go a bit better.
